1930s Santo Domingo Jacla Necklace

Jaclas, or loops of heishi beads, were commonly worn as earrings but also used to adorn necklaces as in this vintage necklace. Handcrafted by a Santo Domingo artisan using traditional techniques such as hand-powered pump drills, the necklace is strung with tabs of Fox turquoise and heishi beads made of shell. The jacla pendant centers the necklace and is made with natural coral beads and shell and Fox turquoise heishi beads. Traditional wrapping finishes the necklace. One of a kind. Made in USA.
